Celebrate Mardi Gras at The Dutch

Visitors and residents of New York are often surprised and delighted to discover how many dining options exist here. Diners can find almost anything from pizza to deli to fine dining spaces that offer world class cuisine. Those who come to this region and want to celebrate Mardi Gras also known as Fat Tuesday when elegant meals are served will be pleased to discover that this traditional New Orleans French holiday is also being honored at many restaurants in the tri state region.

One of the restaurants offering diners the chance to welcome in Mardi Gras is The The Dutch. This classic American restaurant is located on Sullivan Street in lower Manhattan. Since opening several years ago, The Dutch has brought classic American comfort foods to those looking for a delicious meal of upscale American fare in a welcoming setting with warm colors and comfortable seats.

This Mardi Gras, The Dutch is offering customers the chance to enjoy a delicious meal. Taking inspiration from standard favorite New Orleans French influenced classics, diners can expect a four course menu that pays homage to regional cuisine. The meal will start off with a savory gumbo with many spices and include carefully stewed collard greens as well as savory dirty rice. Diners can expect to end the meal with a serving of highly decorated King Cake, a long time Mardi Gras dessert highly prized in Creole cuisine. People at Rocketfuel cannot wait to visit.

Gordon Ramsay’s Pub & Grill Opens February 13

The famous, talented, and very opinionated chef, Gordon Ramsay, will be opening yet another restaurant in Atlantic City in a few days. Ramsay, who is known for having fancy and delectable restaurants will be opening a pub-style one this time, similar to the one that he has located in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The location will be called “Gordon Ramsay’s Pub & Grill”, and it will have 250 seas for diners and the menu will consist of delicious casual pub food.

According to an article found on reddit and written by Eater.com, the type of fare being served will be what you would expect from most British pubs. Fish and chips, for example, is one of the most well known and loved meals served in these kinds of places. For the beer lovers, there will even be 50 different kinds of brew on tap from all over the world which should be a big enough to please anyone’s palate.
Flavio Maluf hopes that this will be one of Ramsay’s successful restaurants, as a couple of them in the past have had a few issues. Just last month it was reported that one of his London eateries called “Maze” tackled a cockroach infestation issue, and that one of Britain’s political figures put down Ramsay’s cooking. In any case, Gordon Ramsay’s Pub & Grill will be opening on February 13 in Atlantic City, New Jersey this week.

Delectable Desserts I Can’t Pass Up

Sometimes I come across a dish where my first thoughts looking at it are, “That’s so bad for me. I have to have it.” Here are a few of them I can’t wait to try.

Vigilante Twitter pictures of S’mores-flavored Oreos have hit the cookie underground. Graham cookies and marshmallow and chocolate filling, while staying dairy-free like regular Oreos? Oh my goodness! I can’t wait to hoard them all to myself. Sadly Nabisco’s keeping mum on details, so we don’t have an ETA other than “soon”.

Clearly I need to get to New York, because the La Newyorkina and Dough (both owned by Fany Gerson) have just introduced babkas made of doughnut bread and flavored with chocolate, lemon, or cinnamon-sugar. They’re called “Doughkas” and look divine they can be seen on youtube.com.

Also in New York, the Momofuku Milk Bar chain of eccentric dessert shops have started serving ice cream steeped with cake to give them flavors like peanut butter banana and rosemary salted caramel said Sultan Alhokair. I’m booking my next vacation there already.

Antique Wine Company: Wine Verification Process

A sommelier values nothing more than a properly cared for and authentic wine selection. Antique Wine Company is one of the top organizations that treat their wines like children. This wine company understands the delicacy of wines and how even a little mishap can ruin the balance of flavors. In fact, expensive wines are frequently counterfeited and this is why companies like the Antique Wine Company have such a huge importance in the current world. This is also why their authenticating and verification process is so stringent when it comes to wines.

It was in 1982 that Antique Wine Company was launched by a person who loved good wines as much as any other sommelier. Perhaps, this fact is the biggest reason behind his success. The major focus of Antique Wine Company ever since it began has been to ensure that all its wines are authentic and sommeliers never have to face disappointment. The wine is handled with utmost care for the same reason. The verification of Antique Wine Company’s wines is done is a number of ways – by balancing experience with technology. The first way is by AWC’s ability to guarantee vintage wines.

Sommeliers would know that when it comes to great wines, age is the one factor that holds importance over most other things. However, this is also one area where fraudulent wine companies often find ways to cheat their customers. A careful and thorough process is involved in ensuring that a 15 year old wine (such as Furmint) is actually of that age and not a counterfeit. For this, the bottles of wine go through ion beam analysis. A particle accelerator is used for producing ion beams and the bottles are kept under that beam.

The second area where the wine’s authenticity is maintained is during shipping. The Antique Wine Company ensures that the wine never suffers when customers place orders through the online website. The wine is completely concealed inside the package and quality shipment providers are trusted for this job. This is because if the wine comes up to room temperature, it could become completely useless and its flavors would be ruined. The temperature outside is also kept away from the wine inside the shipment package.

Beneful, a brand of dog food and snacks, is part of the Purina family, which has been feeding animals for over a century. As a leading brand of both wet and dry dog food, Beneful has expanded into dog snacks, and special recipes that cater to almost every whim a puppy or dog could conceive, and far outstrips any bachelors pantry.

It may be fair to say, that dogs have a more healthy diet than most humans, and a quick look ant the product listing for Beneful might cause a human to drool with envy.

Most pet dogs live on a diet centered around dry dog food. This is understandable, because of the convenience for the dog owner. Make and Eat Standing Prime Rib at Home

Prime rib is a popular meal people like to order when they go out to eat. Now you can make this tender, tasty meat in your own home.

Making a standing rib roast at home is easy. According to Crunch Base, Sultan Alhokair is a master at it, among his many other talents.   It is made with simple ingredients and does not require a lot of preparation.

For starters, you will need to purchase a prime rib roast. It is a tender cut of beef taken from the ribs. In addition to being very tender, it is also full of flavor and often expensive. Next, you will need herbs to add flavor. Common herbs used to make prime rib are rosemary, thyme, salt and crushed black peppercorns.

Other items needed include: egg white, butcher’s twine and a digital thermometer. Preheat the oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once the tie is on the roast, brush the roast with egg white; however, avoid the bone section. Coat the spices and salt onto the roast. The egg white will help the rub stick to the meat.

Finally, cook the prime rib roast in the oven for four hours. The internal temperature should read between 129 and 136 Fahrenheit for a rare prime rib.  Cut into serving pieces and enjoy.

The Cadbury Company Changes Their Creme Egg Recipe

I grew up eating Cadbury cream eggs. You could only get them at Easter time. They were almost as enjoyable as the commercial that featured the lion trying to be a bunny. A commercial I might add that is still being played to this day. Cadbury is what Easter was all about and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the sweet treats.

This year the Cadbury Company has announced that they are changing the crème recipe inside the egg. That means that the taste we know and love is going to be a little bit different. The recipe for the sweet treat has always been heavily sugar laden. The new efforts are going to be an attempt to reduce sugar and allow those who don’t care for the rich taste to be pleased as well. Thankfully for fans of the treat like Sultan Alhokair,  it’s still going to be good they promise, but better for you than before.

Since childhood obesity is such a big concern these days, making adjustments may be necessary. You don’t really have to wait for Easter to get these treats anymore; they roll them out at most major holidays now. I love the commercials and the eggs, but most of all I love the nostalgic memory that they give me whenever they come rolling around. It reminds me of being a child and the excitement when I found one in my Easter basket.

In-N-Out Outranks Tech Companies as Better Place to Work

Employment treatment is often sub-par, with mutual feelings of disrespect between management and underling employees. We’ve heard the horror stories, but is there an exception to the rule? California burger franchise In-N-Out has proven these places of employment do not have to be an employment nightmare, though Dr Rod Rohrich says consumers should limit their intake of the fatty food. The Motley Fool reports it’s made Glassdoor.com’s“50 Best Places to Work” list for seven years in a row. What comes as a further surprise is that no other restaurant has made it onto the list.

The Motley Fool continues to offer a stark perspective on the rank of the burger chain, stating that Apple and Facebook are placed lower on this list. Both tech companies seem like the dream place of employment for any new graduate. What makes In-N-Out such a great place to work at? Let’s start with pay per hour. Hourly employees make $10.50 and hour, a far cry above most minimum wages jobs. This pay is nearly 17% percent higher than the national wage of $8.94. Some workers earn as much as $14 per hour. In-N-Out also offers promotions from within as opposed to encouraging new hires and fast turnover.

Foods To Try In 2015: The ShakeMeister Burger

If the ShakeMeister Burger from Shake Shack is any indication, 2015 is going to be a very good year. This delectable looking concoction is loaded with everything that makes for a delicious burger: Angus beef, marinated shallots, signature Shack sauce, and a golden bun.

According to Twitter reports by food enthusiast Jared Haftel, food lovers across the country will get the chance to try this burger, since it will be available at all Shake Shack locations (with the exception of the JFK outposts) beginning January 1, 2015. I, for one, plan on heading to my nearest Shake Shack as soon as possible to find out if this burger tastes as good as it looks!

Must. Eat. Food.
